MOTIVATING EMPLOYEES IN UNCERTAIN TIMES

 

With an environment of pending “competitive sourcing” efforts, out sourcing studies and contracting out of work; and, decreasing budgets and staffs nothing is more challenging than creating a motivating environment that addresses employees concerns.

 The leaders who succeed have employee motivational techniques that encourage employee involvement and participation with a view to improving productivity and morale.   Recent studies offer solutions- new ways to elicit commitment that long term supervisors can use in the daily managing of employees. Understanding these tools and the reasons why people do what they do, supervisors can motivate people to stay focused on work and continue to get results:  the agency gains the most benefit from the employee's enhanced performance; and the manager is more likely to excel within the organization; and the individual’s career has a better chance of flourishing as well.
